Two weeks...

We are moving to our own house! Our "stuff" finally arrived from Saudi and the movers will be delivering it to our new address very soon. I'll have MY computer back. I can blog regularly, again. The Kids will be with us and constantly under foot like they are supposed to be. We are incredibly thankful that Sterling is doing as well as he is! I suspect we do not have much longer... The really good thing is that I will be twenty minutes away from my new grandson!!!

If anyone is still reading my blog, I need some advice. What kind of washer and dryer do I buy? I really had my mind set on Maytag. Why? Because my Maytag washer and dryer lasted so long and gave us almost no trouble but for the dryer breaking - once! Maytag is not really Maytag any more. It was bought by Whirlpool three years ago. So much for getting Maytag appliances. The salesmen at HHGregg and Sears are trying to sell me Sanyo or LG. Does anyone have a recommendation one way or another?

  1. The only washer/dryer I've ever 'owned' came from Korea...and she cooked, too!

I shoud have married that broad...

Anyways, it's been my exerience that anything I've ever purchased from Sears can be considered A-1, top-of-the-line merchandise that wears like iron, never breaks, and can be returned/serviced without a hassle. If Sears is pushing LG and Sanyo, then I'd give them a really good look.

Check out Best Buy,too; they usually have decent sales prices on appliances.

  2. My mom has an LG that she enjoys, very do-everything. I don't know the model, but I do know it doesn't have an agitator. How that works I have no clue. The dryer is the same old Kenmore she's had for over 30 years.

  4. The repair guy that takes care of our appliances at our firehouse recommended we get a GE. He said they are well built without a pricey name

  6. Hey Hey! Great news that you will be back regularly. I've missed you! Thanks for the update on Sterling. He (and you) are on my mind a lot.
Now for the washer/dryer...my mom swears by her Kenmore. I have a Whirlpool that has cranked along for 8 yrs w/o problems. Considering where I am, I think that has to say something about Whirlpools :-)

  7. Good news on finally moving into your own place, I know you will be so glad. Unpacking and getting settled will take time, but you can do it on your own.

As to washers and dryers, I need a new washer. The one I have is only 7 years old and it is making terrible sounds.

    So I can't recommend one.

  9. I don't know what to buy but I do know from personal experience that the idle repairman at Maytag is just a memory, they're coasting on a ghost.
