Profiling. Okay for some. Not for others.

Imagine if US airlines said they were going to start using "physical features and the way they speak" to profile certain groups. The outrage would be explosive. Any outrage that Dubai will start doing just that - using "physical features and the way they speak" - to keep a certain nationality out of their country? Nope. And there won't be any, either. The link is here: http://arabnews.com/middleeast/article24752.ece.

A report of a child who was severely beaten by his father - beaten so badly that he spent 14 days in the hospital - who, apparently was tortured by his dad for NOT confessing to being xesually abused. What the?!? Did I just read that correctly? Link: http://www.saudigazette.com.sa/index.cfm?method=home.regcon&contentID=2010030265011. Where is the little boy's mother? Somewhere else. She is a "foreigner" and she has divorced the boy's father. Rules in the Sandbox say the children go with the father under such circumstances. The boy is in the custody of his aunt who says that a "social protection house would be the best home for the child." Umm, how about reconsidering and letting the child go to the home of his mother. Is that an option? It should be. The father has been detained by authorities and "should not take custody of the boy until he is examined for mental health." Gee. 'Ya think?

  1. "The aunt lamented the weak response from the Ministry of Social Affairs, saying that the toll free number 1919 was never answered when they needed help. “’Please leave a message’ is all you will get,” she said."
Well that sounds normal for certain USA cities.

As for the abusive father, he just needs his eyesight checked. He obviously thought the boy was his indoniesian housekeeper.
