What's going on in the world?

Was there anything of any importance happening yesterday? The news was pretty much coverage of Michael Jackson [and no doubt it will be again, today, now that the memorial service has been held]. Greta you hadn't quite lost me as a regular viewer - I occasionally watch your show - but I am done, now. No more. There was just no need for the amount of coverage you devoted to him. Sure he was the King of Pop some years ago. He was also a very strange man who really didn't live in the "real" world. Al Sharpton said at the service yesterday, "There wasn't nothing strange about your daddy" addressing Jackson's children. Yeah. There is nothing strange about a man having to pay out $20 million dollars in a settlement to a 13-year-old boy who accused him of inappropriate behavior child molestation. Nothing strange at all. And someone tell me who pays out that kind of money if NOTHING really happened?!! Thankfully it is over and done with. He is dead. The service has taken place. Can we get back to regularly scheduled programming now, please?!? And back to the news? The real news.

How much mention was made of Marion Barry who was arrested for stalking a woman a few days ago? Note that in that article there is no mention made of his political affiliation. There never is, when it is a democrat.

Another athlete in trouble. Dayum. She was so cute in her day. What the heck is wrong with you!? Did you honestly think that you could get away with what you were doing and NOT get caught? What a disappointment, Nicole Bobek. For shame.

Trying to find out what's happening in Honduras is incredibly frustrating. Both that situation, and the fact that Iran is nearing the month mark on its protests, are completely forgotten by all but a few conservative blogs.

    Viva las constitucion Honduras!

  2. You realize though, don't you, Mommykitten, that the passing of a larger than life superstar [gag] is just soooo much more important and newsworthy!

  3. Checking the tv yesterday, I counted 16 stations broadcasting the memorial. 16! Last night 2 were RE-broadcasting it, and the rest running "specials" about it/him. I actually got so annoyed writing a post on the stupidity of it all that I just stopped. Just stopped & posted an ad/video about how screwed we all are with Al Franken's swearing in.
