Strangest Summer Weather

Another yellow sky today. Dust filled air. Strangest weather we've experienced in a summer in all the years we've been here. And, it hasn't been nearly as hot, either. Global warming and all... Last year it was so hot the pool was in the mid-90's through all of July and August. This year? Temperature hasn't gone above 85°. Not complaining. Still very odd though. Today is definitely an "inside" day. The Boy is going to want to be out - and I'll have to tell him no. Nothing going on in the news on this side of the world. It is the weekend. Guess I'll see if I can't find something on television - other than the news - which just makes me rant and rave - and get going on another mountain of laundry. I cannot bear the thought of hearing more about a health care plan that not only is going to bankrupt America but that John Conyers says is too much to even read. What the heck are those congress critters being paid to do?!? Good to know that they don't bother to read what they've signed. Yeah. Like that is a big surprise. Geez! Is it just me, or does anyone else wonder why these fools keep getting voted in?

"What good is reading the bill if its a thousand pages and you don't have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?" This man needs to curl back up under the rock he originally slithered out from - with his wife. Dumbass! If people in Michigan elect this buffoon again - they get what they deserve - but don't make the rest of us pay for it, too.

  1. As for the weather, it's the same here in the states. I'm no weather person, but I think one of the reasons why we're experiencing abnormally cooler temperatures worldwide is because there has been far less solar activity. We're on a low point of the solar activity cycle, but the loop will come back next year...and I think we'll see temps rise, with a lot of electronic disturbances, EMI and the like.

Let's just hope that there are no mass corona ejections this cycle.

  2. You're getting way too technical for me with this "less solar activity" stuff, Steve. But I'm more than willing to go along with it!

Umm... Blonde hair speaking, here, but what does "mass corona ejections" mean???

  3. Reading comprehension is not a pre-requisite for Congresscritters, even at State level and certainly not at Federal levels. And for stuff that affects the wallet, there is only one question: are Congressional members exempted (preferably in perpetuity, ie if not re-elected)? If so, few will bother to look further. Health Uncaring, Crap-and-tax, whatever...

I think "mass corona ejections" means solar flares/plumes, probably those in which a stream of matter over 400,000 thousand miles (!!) long, is ejected past the usual surface. At about that size, radio and the like start to show noticeable problems. A falre of 2 million iles would probably be major...

Scary - a repetition of the solar emission of 1859 would today bring modern civilisation to its knees for months -

"The 1859 storm--known as the "Carrington Event" after astronomer Richard Carrington who witnessed the instigating solar flare--electrified transmission cables, set fires in telegraph offices, and produced Northern Lights so bright that people could read newspapers by their red and green glow."

  5. I've lived in Michigan (not by choice) for many years. We currently have a) no discernible summer, and b) waaaay too much Conyers everywhere. How's that for a double whammy! I constantly encourage family and friends to contact our congressional representatives (as I do) if they actually care about the health care issue - and I am constantly amazed at the number who say "it doesn't do any good" or "I don't have the time." IMHO, it's one very big reason why the Conyers types are able to push through their agendas. Will he be re-elected? Oh yeah, over and over and over.

  6. Yeah, our congress critters have done just wonders for themselves, haven't they, JohnA? Us? Not so much. Thanks for the information on solar flares/plumes.

All our fault, Findalis, the temperature drop. According to Al Gore...

Double whammy, for sure, Anonymous. You have my condolences! But you've got to get that life-long member - Conyers - out of Washington. Will his wife's problems hurt him this year? One can only hope. I'm guessing that his wife isn't the only "pay to play" political family member.

  7. Thanks, John A!

We're in for a world of pain if that happens again.

  8. Being a fellow Michigander myself - now you know a prime reason why I no longer live in that state.

Every single bankrupt city in the US is run by Liberal Democrats.
