I have like twelve half-posts to go up. Sometimes I am just lazy. Or, maybe I'm just too busy knitting. Have you ever thought of that?

- Once upon a time, in the not too distant past, there was a Woman who thought she was living the American Dream. Her childhood, although now not particularly memorable, was fairly normal. She went to school. She got a job. She met a tall, blonde and handsome pilot and married him. It was all good. They were the perfect “Ken and Barbie” couple. The handsome pilot built her the house of her dreams in North Carolina, where she thought they would live for the remainder of their many, many days to come. Circumstances, totally out of the control of this lovely Ken and Barbie couple, changed everything. Shortly afterward, they came to find themselves living a whole new life in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. Oh, sure, they are still the perfect “Ken and Barbie” couple, but Barbie now wears an abeyah over her designer outfits when she leaves her house, she has given up her pink convertible because she is not allowed to drive, and she no longer has an office that she visits five days a week, instead choosing to spend her time as a stay-at-home wife and an over-protective, doting Mommy to their two absolutely adorable, much loved and very, very pampered four-legged “Kids.”
Sabra--speaking of knitting--a while back you mentioned you were looking for a pattern for a long coat-sweater. I believe you were going to wear it with jeans, and I think you you posted a link to a site with patterns. Would you mind sending me that link? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks so much!

Barbara - I made this one. I finished it - made it knee length - it came out beautifully. Regret I didn't take pictures. I will tell you, though, that the size 14 is really a size 14. It was too big for me so I gave it to a good friend in the States. I'll take a photo of her wearing it in February. Give me a day or two and I'll tell you how many rows I did to get the length to be knee length - I kept track... It is a really easy pattern and I am a beginner - so if I could do it - anyone can!

Barbara - I still need to get the row count for you. I'll try to remember to do it tomorrow morning. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteBarbara - It looks like I added some 267 rows to the length to make it as long as mid-calf. It ended up fitting a friend of mine perfectly - she is 5'8" - although it was originally for me - and I'm 5'7" - so it will all depend on how tall you are. Also, the belt? That was 280 rows. I wanted it long. Good luck with it. I'm going to try to make another one with smaller needles to see if that decreases the size. [Probably I should figure out how to just decrease the pattern, but I'm not quite there, yet.]

I wondered if it would work with smaller needles and you answered that question, too! Too bad it didn't work for you; it looks like a LOT of work to make another one.
