Bad Image - You've Given it to Yourself

If Saudi's for even an nanosecond wonder why their image has been tarnished and is distorted as viewed by other countries, this is precisely why. This just makes me wanna scream, "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!?!" You are going to gouge out the eye of a 15-year-old boy because "he damaged the eye of another boy during a brawl involving a number of schoolboys..." If the boy's mother cannot raise another 120,000 riyals, that is exactly what is going to happen. The price for the Ali to keep his own eye was set at 300,000 and Ali's mother has raised 180,000 of it. There is no contact information in the article that would enable people like me to donate money to the cause. Not that I agree with any of this, but I agree even less that a 15-year-old boy should have his eye gouged out because someone else got injured in a school yard brawl. Pathetic. Really, it is.

  1. Eye for an eye...I always thought that was metaphorical...who knew.

In the muslim world...women are forced to have their genitals mutilated...are lashed for sexual indescretion (whether wanted or raped) are stoned for adultery...men are lashed...have their limbs chopped off...and heads occasionally...and then you have such things as this...injury for injury etc

If they are going to go through the trouble to submit their people to all this body injury etc for perceived crimes...how come men arent getting their dicks chopped off when they rape etc...seems only fair.

btw...sorry for saying dick on your blog.

  2. Me, too, CR38, thought it was "metaphorical." Oh, and by the way, you My Dear, of all of my visitors, may say whatever you would like. Won't hear any disagreement from me that men should be having their dicks chopped off...

  3. Perhaps you could donate some riyals to the court? Or to the school where Ali goes to school.

And like you said Sabra, they why the world thinks they're a nomadic, backward bunch of inbreeds. HELLO!

  4. I wouldn't donate any money unless it was directly to the source. The source would NEVER get it Janice, if I donated it any other way. Honesty isn't really a strong point - if you get what I am saying...

  5. Oh Sabra, I know what you're saying.

After reading that comment of mine (I really should check them before I hit publish)

What I meant was, could you tell the court it was for "Ali" and donate the riyals to his case? Or contact the school and have them give it to "Ali"?

  6. I will see if contacting the paper gives any information on how to donate to Ali's mother. I could tell the court it was for him - he'd still probably not see it; ditto for the school. I am going to see what I can do though. Even a couple hundred riyals - although not the entire sum needed - would help.

  7. The idea of 'blood money' disgusts me. I think it says so much about the people that think that blood money is something acceptable.

  8. How much is this in dollars? I've been running exchange converters and I'm coming up with $80,000 US - is that even close to right?

Want to post this story on my blog, but I'd like the context to resonate accurately. Shoot me some mail if you have time. Thanks.

  9. Well, this one really takes the cake, Miss S.

And you aren't hearing boo about it over here.

Wouldn't it have been nice if Obama would have mentioned this after he went down on bended knee in front of Abdullah...

  10. Doesn't surprise me one bit that there is no news of this in the MSM over there, DL.
